Sew - Swim - Sleep -Repeat

.....so goes my life this week! We officially opened the pool last Saturday, so I've been out there every chance I can. I know the "new" will wear off eventually- but for right now it is like a vacation every day. I am not doing much fun in the sewing room - mostly alterations- so I sew as long as I can everyday. Then by afternoon I'm poolside. We are out there until dark, then I hit the bed. Repeat.

Spray Paint Date

I found these brass plate chargers at a yard sale last week. The first price was $9.99 each. I got all 6 for $5.00. I really wanted white chargers so we had a date with spray paint in the back yard.
BEFORE
I am very happy with the results. I know they will take a lot of wear and tear at our house...but I can just touch them up, if they get chipped.
AFTERMost of the things on my table are from thrift stores: tablecloth, napkins, some of the flatware, milk glass vase, napkin rings, candle holder, Buffalo china little plates and berry bowls....
I've been keeping the table set between meals because it helps the "boys" remember not to leave stuff sitting around on the table. It also helps with storage - I don't have much so if I keep all this out on the table and keep the dishwasher full- I have less to squeeze in my cupboards!!!

Thrifty Thursday

Usually Leigh at Bloggeritaville hosts Thrifty Thursday, but this week Chandy at What Now? is helping out while Leigh is out of town. This is my first week to be organized enough to join in!
Two quick trips to the Thrift stores last week led me to all kinds of treasures....Cute little dessert dishes-4 good ones-1 chipped.... to add to my plate addiction

Two Queen's China plates...I want more....more... these look nice mixed in with my Britain Castles.

English metal tray, paper mache snowman head, books for DH, Mary Janes for my current project for the Porch Tour (yes...we are already back working on them) - I'm working on a little girl who holds a hoop. She stands out on the porch of my neighbor's play house. Her clothes didn't look too bad last Christmas- just a little faded. When I took them off they were so dry-rotted they just crumbled!
Two big gingham tablecloths, ribbon, baggie of old lace

Flower press

Two jackets- the red for Porch Tour, the teel for me. I also got another red and black jacket and a long red and black plaid wool skirt. I dropped them off before I came home. These were all on the $1 table and will be good for costumes or redressing maniquins.

I also found 6 brass chargers but I don't have a picture of them because they went straight to the basement. I really wanted some white chargers so they have a date with a can of spray paint.

Sewing

I found a cute pattern online...it may be my downfall! I do not sew much clothing for myself...just don't need clothes...it is too expensive....too busy....take your pick of the excuses!!! But, I really like this tunic/dress and the possibilities are endless. So I headed out to Hobby Lobby and the Sewing Center for some springy fabric. This is the one I finished yesterday:

Close-up of the fabric...

And this is the fabric for the one I'm working on now. I may use ribbon for the ties instead of fabric. There is another coordinating fabric I like but I'll have to order it and I'm not sure about adding a third print!
So -I phoned a friend- to loan her the pattern. If I don't get it out of the house I may end up with 97 tops made from the same pattern!!! Well...maybe one more...a dress perhaps?
