First Dining Room Event!
The shower for the TWINS was Sunday! It was the first event for the dining room- although it is not quite complete! We still have to finish the floors, electricity and hang the mirrors and artwork...but it was fine because we had all the cute baby stuff to look at! Warning: I took a lot of pictures! Starting with the front doors and the wreathes-
The theme was "Two Peas in a Pod" which was inspired by the precious invitations designed by the future aunt and co- hostess.
The pea pods have 2 button peas on each wreathe

Thrifty Thursday
I've been out at the thrift stores and yard sales again. It is a good day when your Hubby says "Go shopping and bring home some junk!" Besides the fun of the hunt, I am really enjoying the research involved when I find something new. I am also beginning to love some things that I would have said were not my style. Take that big pink beauty- Abingdon vase- for example. I love it! This is the 3rd piece I have found. One I am keeping, one sold on ebay and this one that I hope is meant for me to keep. I got the pieces at 3 different sales - spent $5.50- for all 3. They are all vintage and timeless. Finally something I am comfortable with- worn and shabby- vintage- with stories it could tell! But this too will head to ebay this week because I already have a couple in my laundry room-
I'm linking up with Thrifty Thursday with Leigh - I'll just call that more "research"!!

The Man and His Machine
Friday night we went to rent the machine- a floor sander. My Hubby spent his evening getting to know the machine and taking it for a test drive...he had sanded the whole floor before he came to bed!
Saturday he spent on his hands and knees with a hand sander getting in corners and around the baseboard where the big machine could not go.
It looks so good- better than I ever imagined!

There will be more layers to the window treatments- white sheers and floor length panels. I have them cut out, but I wanted to wait to make them until I could hang them. I hate to have to re-iron them once they have been sitting around.

It looks like we will not finish the floors until after the shower. You are supposed to wait 7 days before you have traffic on the poly. We may have to touch up the stain after the shower but that will be easier than repairs after the poly is down and is not ready for traffic!
My job for Monday- Clean 154 crystals so he can rehang the chandelier- There are 50 years of dust on them!

Thrifty Thursday
I am still adjusting to Thrifting but not Keeping! The best thing about it is- I do get to keep some things that do not sell! So far I did get to keep the cake plate from last week and the cute Pyrex....for a little while anyway! So this week we found this cute enamel coffee pot- which would look so cute as a centerpiece with daisies this summer-
And a vintage Care Bear Cousin- 1984- from a neighbor's yard sale-
A nice George Washington pitcher (the Youngest Son has a George Washington themed bedroom- but he is getting too cool for it) I still could not resist it!

And I did not allow myself to bond with these cuties- I knew they would fly away!

Some of the "Best" sellers this week were this vase- I liked it, but didn't love it...like the other vase that moved to a new home this week-

I did not love this model at all- no tears when it sold- quickly -

Another thing I loved and lost- demitasse cup- I enjoyed it for a week!
And I did not allow myself to bond with these cuties- I knew they would fly away!
So- I am off now to look at some other Thrifty Thursday gals that are gathered to celebrate the treasures we find each week at Bloggeritaville, with Leigh!
